CHECK LIST
Carry this check list always with you!
Dissemination of private life videos is one of the most popular means of blackmailing in Azerbaijan. This tool is mainly used against journalists, people opposing the government, emphasizing corruption and bribe cases.
Thus we think that journalists visiting our country with the purpose to cover the international song contest have to fullfill several requirements.
Requirements:
1. Bring hidden camera or secret audio recorder detectors with you while visiting Azerbaijan. Do not hesitate for paying for this;
2. Make an accurate search in the hotel that you are going to stay: have a look at the reverse side of the photos on the hotel room walls, also at any place where hidden camera can be installed.;
3. Make it sure that you have dark coloured curtains in your hotel room and try to keep the lights off;
4. Try to use mimics and gestures while talking. Because even if there is no camera, your voice can still be recorded;
5. It is better to wear something while taking a shower. Otherwise try to touch your body very carefully;
6. It is recommended to listen very loud music in a toilette for avoiding hidden voice recorders;
7. Do not wear colourful dresses. Your sexual orientation can be suspected;
8. If there are some things that you dont want to share with others, do not do these things even while staying alone;
9. Refrain from private relationship with the people that you dont know closely. Keep on mind that they can be blackmailing spies;
10. Cover yourself with something during sex. There is a possibility of hidden camera in the room!

12. If you can not do any of these then adress a letter to the President of Azerbaijan asking for ensurance of your safety and privacy. Get an official guarantee!
